Executive Summary

The ERDS Foundation is committed to the ecological restoration of degraded arid grasslands in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. This initiative addresses the alarming habitat loss faced by species such as the critically endangered Great Indian Bustard (GIB), along with other keystone species like the Desert Fox, Asiatic Wildcat, Indian Gazelle, and Spiny-Tailed Lizard. Habitat degradation, primarily due to unregulated grazing and human encroachment, has significantly contributed to the decline of these species. With only an estimated 150 GIBs remaining globally, half of which reside in the Jaisalmer region, immediate conservation actions are crucial.
